Beginner Motorcycle Camping Top 5 Tips (2018)

Top 5 motorcycle camping tips, that every motorcycle camper should know. Even if you have been doing this for a while it’s a good refresher for the things we should all be keeping in mind.

The five tips for motorcycle camping are:

Tip #1: Organize everything beforehand. Pack everything in an organized manor so you know where everything is, and know that it is in good working order. Check your tent for holes and mold, check that you have all your ground stakes, check the poles and inspect your sleeping bag. Also check all the zippers. Don’t forget to make sure your batteries are good in your headlamp or lantern.

Tip #2: Set up before dark. This may seem obvious, but when you are traveling it can be easy to fall into this trap. Sometimes you just can’t find a place to sleep as quickly as you’d like, make sure to start looking early enough that you don’t end up setting up your tent in the dark. Better to not kill your battery setting up camp with your bikes headlight as illumination.

Tip #3: Educate yourself on potential hazards in the area. This could be vegetation such as poison ivy, animals like coyotes or bears, and weather conditions like flash floods or forest fires. Don’t forget to check local camping regulations and fire restrictions.

Tip #4: Bring fire starters, or something to get a fire going. Don’t completely rely on things at the campsite to get a fire going. Often wood will be wet or there may just not be anything small to burn.

Tip #5: Store your gear in the tent with you. This way your helmet isn’t cold in the morning, your jacket will be bug free, and you won’t find any snakes in your boots first thing in the morning.
